Design Notes

This is NOT a BioBrick part. It is only functional if properly re-assembled with J11904. Can be used in combination with other split-genes to solve HPP (Hamiltonian Path Problems).

Reporting of this gene causes a blue color to become present when the E Coli are exposed to X-Gal. However, it is possible to have an Alpha-Mutation which causes the first half of the gene (independent of the second half) to report with blue coloring. Careful attention must be paid to be sure of a correct result instead of a false positive.

Source

PCR amplification of LacZ.
